Andromeda Research BIOS REPAIR kits are equipped to address problems and issues which occur with motherboard and other processor based technology products. A BIOS chip can fail for several reasons including an interrupted update procedure, power surge, system glitch or computer virus. Once the BIOS chip fails, the computer or product is rendered useless. The BIOS chip itself is usually not defective. The problem is that the program data stored inside the chip is altered and will not execute properly; the BIOS has become corrupt. The solution to restoring a corrupt BIOS is to erase and reprogram the part with original data. Andromeda Research BIOS kits allow you to perform this operation to restore a BIOS to its original state. Original BIOS code can be downloaded from the internet or you can copy the code from a good BIOS part. Once you have the original BIOS image file, the BIOS kit is used to erase the corrupt part and program the original data back into the chip. The process is fast and easy. The BIOS kit uses the proven software of the AR-32A package including these options:
READ A GOOD BIOS AND SAVE THE DATA TO A DISK FILE |
PROGRAM A BIOS CHIP FROM A DISK FILE |
COMPARE ONE BIOS CHIP TO ANOTHER |
COMPARE A BIOS CHIP TO A DISK FILE |
Both BIOS kits are based on the proven technology of the AR-32A programming unit plus the specific technology family adapters required for BIOS work. Each kit includes the appropriate adapter(s) to address your specific BIOS application. BIOS KIT#1, due to the built-in support for UV and FLASH EPROMS, allows you to work with early BIOS parts in DIP packages plus the latest HI-SPEED SERIAL SPI FLASH EPROMs. Kit#1 does not support FIRMWARE HUB chips or FLASH EPROMs in PLCC packages. BIOS Kit#2 supports all BIOS technology families, including FIRMWARE HUBs and 32 PIN PLCC packages. Also, the CABLE8/DD assembly is designed to support reading, programming and erasing of the BIOS chip in-circuit. This means that if the motherboard or product assembly power is distributed you will be able to attach the clip directly to the 8 pin BIOS part. (See center-right photo below) Complete instuctions are included with both kits including how to locate the BIOS part and attach the system to the chip. (
